Printing selected portions of email messages

My query is that when I select a portion of a Plain Text email using
Outlook Express and in the printer dalogue box click selection /apply /ok it
still prints the unwanted portions of the message .The only way I can get it
to print just the selection is to to display the message in HTML or Rich
Text format . which i often forget to do and finish up with unwanted pages
of printing . I have 2 Canon Printers and it the same with both . I have
only experienced this since moving fro m Windows 98 to XP .

I also note that if try to print just a selection of text using Notepad I do
not get an option to print only the selection is greyed out in the Printer
Dialogue box . I do not know if this is related to the email problem
Is this an XP thing or a printer setting I am missing . ?
I would be grateful for iny information .
