Probably Hopeless: wmix dockapp trouble

Posted: 09-15-2004, 05:41 PM
Hi folks,

I have downloaded and compiled the dockapp "wmix" (version 3.1), and I
quite like it. but there is one thing that is bugging me to insanity:

I can't seem to exclude channels. I hate having a bunch of useless
channels such as PC Speaker and Mic in my mixers. There is an argument I
can pass to wmix, which is "-e <channel name>", but no name I supply it
with (_EXCEPT_ for "Synth") will be parsed correctly and the channel
removed. I _DID_ try the -v switch and used the names provided there,
but they won't work either (not even with the damned spaces attatched).

So if anyone knows a cure, please tell me! I actually like that app
quite a lot, and I'd hate to dump it for this detail.

Here's output of wmix -v on my computer:

TriTech id 3 (EMU10K1)
Supported channels:
1: Master volume (Vol )
2: Bass (Bass )
3: Treble (Trebl)
4: FM Synth volume (Synth)
5: PCM Wave volume (Pcm )
6: PC Speaker (Spkr )
7: Line In level (Line )
8: Microphone level (Mic )
9: CD volume (CD )
10: PCM Wave 2 volume (Pcm2 )
11: Input gain (IGain)
12: Line In 1 (Line1)
13: Digital In 1 (Digital1)
14: Phone input (PhoneIn)
15: Phone output (PhoneOut)

Notice the extra spaces inside the brackets of some channels. So if you
want to remove the PC Speaker, use
wmix -e "Spkr "

Holy Kernel, you're my saviour! I never thought of using "'s to do the
job, but it works.

Thank you so much!
