Hi,
We are running Windows XP Pro and Windows 2000 Pro in a MS domain with
Domain Controllers being a Windows 2000 Server and a 2003 Server. We
recently purchased a Java based application which, quite frankly is not very
good. One of it's big flaws is printing using it's built in printing
functions. No matter which printer we select it always sends the job out
the Windows default printer. I can get the print jobs to go to a different
printer but only when I first select the target printer as my Windows
default before I launch the Java app.
I have always thought this was a problem with the application until now.
Someone in my organization recently pointed out that when trying to print
calendar items and tasks out of Outlook 2003 we can't direct the print jobs
anywhere but our Windows default printer. Word and Excel work fine.
So now I'm back to looking at my network configuration. Any ideas what
could cause this? I have printers installed on two servers, one is a
Windows 2000 Server and the other is a Windows 2003 Server. Doesn't matter
which printers I select, same result.
The only exception seems to be the Microsoft Document Image Writer, if I
select it as a printer from within Outlook it works, all else goes to the
Windows default printer. I'm perplexed.
Thanks in advance,
Linn
