Problem with duplicate entries in Windows Media Player Library

Everytime I go to my drive where my mp3s are kept and
choose search for media it creates duplicate entries in
my media library. It doesn't matter whether I use find
all new (fast) or find all including current files
(slow), etc. It just seems to keep adding the same media
to my library without noticing that I either already have
that file in the library or deleting the old file. Would
appreciate any suggestions. I am deleting the recycling
bin prior to searching for media.
