Problem with HP & XP

Installed XP, had HP Office Jet T45xi, had communication
problems. Downloaded new driver from HP for XP. HP
continually initializes even after wake up, restart, etc.
Often have to restart pc to get it no initialize. Have
Dell Dimension L550r; 548 MGH, 192 Ram, 20 Gig HD.
Please any help appreciated.
