problem with mass storage device

great with the technical side of computers so i'd
appreciate any help you can give
My problem is that windows does not detect any mass
storage devices such as my digi cam. I downloaded and ran
system mechanic a few days ago and its since then ive had
this problem. perhaps it deleted something it shouldnt
have? My cam should show as a "removeable disk" in "my
computer" but it doesnt register anything. any suggestions
of what caused this or how it can be fixed would be very
much appriciated thanks
