Problem with Neverwinter Nights/Vista

I recently purchased a copy of Neverwinter Nights Diamond Addition.
installed the game along with a patch that i was told i needed. Th
patch was actually from the Neverwinter site

I still can't get the game to work. It start out with the entire intr
and game option screen but justs soon as you choos an option, the scree
turns completely black. You can still hear the music though

I have no clue what I'm doing wrong other than not getting a differen
OS that will accept games like this

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm not a real bi
gamer but have played this game at my brothers house. I would like t
be able to play it at my own home
