Hopefully this is the right place for this post.

I'm having the following problem:
I have small ad. windows poping up when I am surfing the internet. Also, in
some pages when I click in a link I am taken to another different link
instead. Also, some (simple) pages make the system terribly slow. Also,
every time I start the computer, the home page changes.
I know that I got some kind of virus-worm-trojan-whatever, the problem is
that i can't find it.
I don't have a anti-virus program and I prefer finding it myself instead of
installing a anti-virus program.

Any help ?

Thanks a lot.

You probably went somewhere you shouldn't have and clicked
on something to download an innocent program that
installed spyware on your machine, or the like. You need
to find a free version of Adware and download it. After
you've installed it, run it and it will search your system
for the program causing the popups. If you have trouble
locating Adware, email me and I will try to fins the
website.

Adverse to running an Anti Virus Program eh?
Does not sound very realistic in this day and age.

http://www.microsoft.com/security/protect/default.asp

From the symptoms you describe, I suggest this procedure:

Control Panel | Internet Options | General tab

Delete all cookies
Delete all temporary internet files
(include all offline content)
Remove all Downloaded Program Files
To do that, you click on that "settings"
button and then click on the "View Objects"
button and then right click and choose remove
for all of them, if any, one at a time.
Close the Downloaded Program Files window,
Click OK to the Settings window.
Now clear History

Now click on the "Advanced" tab at the top
of Internet Options.
In the Browsing section, uncheck the box for
"Enable third-party browser extensions (requires restart)"
Click "Apply" and then "OK" at the bottom
of Internet Options
Close out of Control Panel

Restart the computer

Download one or both of these Anti Spyware programs
and install them, update them and scan your system
and delete any spywares that may be found.

Ad-aware 6.0 build 181

Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.2
http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10....html?tag=list

Scan your system with one of these online AV scanners:

Panda ActiveScan

TrendMicro Houscall Anti Virus Scan
