Problems Installing Vista Ultimate

I have Windows Vista Ultimate. I have tried to install it several times, and
each time it gets all the way through to the very last part of the upgrade,
which says "completeing upgrade" or something to that effect. Well each time
it gets there it gets to 56%, my computer restarts, and each time it gets to
the Vista loader screen (the one with the scrolling green lines at the
bottom) my computer gives me a quick blue screen of death and restarts. The
only way I can get my computer to boot is to then rollback the installation.
Any clues?

computer specs:
-------------------
Intel Pentium 4 2.93 GHZ
1GB DDR SDRAM
160 GD SATA HDD
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 OC (but I'm running it off of onboard video just for
installation purposes)
If you need any further specs my computer is a Compaq SR1430nx. The only
thing I've modified is the video card.
