I was at a location which had WiFi and using the drop-down menu at the
signal icon I could see two available locations, I click on the one in
my location and a window opened asking for password. After some tries I
asked the manager who said there was no password and he called the
service company and a rep came over to see my problem. Needless to say
there is no password needed and he was not familiar with the Mac as it
had worked fine for PCs.
I tried creating a new network location, gave it a false password which
it did not recognize, deleted it and bingo I was active on the network.
I disconnected and tried the regular login and no joy, tried the new
network and after false pwds it worked.
The tech went online from a nearby computer to check the setting and
there is definitely no password required. He said he would take a few
days to review Mac operation.
My question is, is there a problem with my own setup and if so what can
I do to correct it.
Thanks,
bill, toronto
