On the page from where you registered to download...and in the email sent
afterwards.

There was no registration required. Check the web site.

There was registration, but it didn't include much. They wanted your msn or
hotmail email address, you password, you name, and country.

Anyway, you should have tried getting a product key a month ago. The
customer preview program (public beta) has been open for a month now, but you
are now out of luck. The program ended June 30. You will now have to either
beg microsoft for a key by emailing them, or hope someone will let you use
theirs. Each key is good for up to 10 activations, so someone may be able to
help you.

Yes, the links are there for people who have already registered but have not
yet downloaded. If you look above that on the page, you will see the notice
that the Public Preview has closed for new registrations. Registration is a
prerequisite for acquiring a cd key. No registration = no key.

He will just have to wait for the RC1 release since the Beta 2 program is now closed.

It was in the E-mail you should have received from Microsoft, which means
that you are out of luck unless you sign up for either MSDN (OS Level and
Higher) or Microsoft Tech Net Plus, just FYI.
