Product Key Help

Posted: 10-18-2007, 08:02 PM
Hello. I really need help, so please, don't hesitate to leave a reply.

When I got my computer it came with Windows Vista installed. 2 days ago I
got on and it was fine. However, today it isn't.

It's telling me that I have to re-enter the product key on the box, of which
I do not have as it came with the computer. How do I get the product key even
though I have no box for it?

The 25-character Product Key should be affixed to your
computer.

If it came preinstalled, the key is on a sticker attached to the computer.
It is 5 groups of 5 characters each.

The Windows 25-character Product Key (required to perform the
installation) is not on the installation CD in any way, shape, or form.
It is stored on the CD packaging on a bright orange sticker that says
"Do not lose this number." If it was an OEM (factory installed)
license, it's stored on a label that the PC manufacturer affixed to the
exterior of the PC case, or on the bottom of a laptop.

To recover a lost Product Key:

If it was a retail license and you have proof of purchase:

If it was an OEM license, you should contact the computer's
manufacturer; although very few manufacturers/vendors keep records of
the Product Keys they've sold, it's worth a try before you have to buy a
new license.

Bobbie;
The seller of the computer
Or
On the packaging with the Windows Vista media.
If you do not have the original key, it is probable your copy of
Windows Vista is not legitimate.

Hi Vysearcadia & Bobbie,

The product key number should be on the back of the computer or in the
packaging with the Vista installation DVD. This tutorial will show you
what the different stickers will look like. If you already have the
product key entered, this tutorial will show you how to see it from
within Vista to.
