Program Compatibility Assistant

Posted: 05-05-2006, 07:38 AM
Hello;

I'm running a program on Windows Vista build 5308. What causes my program's
icon to have a superimposed Shield on it? Also, what induces Vista to
display the Program Compatibility Assistant and state that "Windows detected
this program did not install correctly"?

My program includes a manifest resource. If I remove the manifest, I don't
get these errors.

Thanks in advance;

Al

The shield means, it requires that you allow it to execute under User
Account Access. I guess the Program compatibility error related to an issue
with applications installer. You need to contact the vendor of the
application to find out about patches or updates for Vista.
