ps/2 mouse frozen upon "repair" reinstall of Win XP prof.

I run Win ME on c: and Win XP Pro on d: drive. I did
a "repair" reinstall of Win XP on d:. During the install
process the mouse pointer was frozen and after the install
completed the PS/2 mouse is still frozen when Win XP
boots.

Any ideas how I can solve this problem. Thanks.
