Question about home page

Jacob... I have a question

if we indeed need to leave the joomla part inside a folder and have the home
page
redirected from root to the index.php in the folder, what will be the impact
of this
on the search engines ?

Will this redirection have a negative impact on google etc? Perhaps search
engines dont like redirections....
