After i saw a previous post of PapaJohns I downloaded the rad tools so that
I could convert .mov files from a Nikon CoolPix digital camera to .avi. It
works very well now but I had some problems at first. I updated to the
latest version of QuickTime (6.3) using the "Help-Update Existing Sofware"
option but although the files played ok in QT when converted there was no
sound. Finally I got it working by selecting "Edit-Preferences-QT
Preferences" then "Update Check" from the dropdown list, check the option
for additional QT software and click Update. When the Component Install
Window appears click Custom. Here I checked all the Not Installed components
(out of desperation) and installed them. Now everything works perfectly.

Hope this helps,
DM
