Default RC1 Connects---RC2 NG

I'm dual booting with XP, separate drives.
Networked with a Netgear router.
NIC is a Nvidia nForm Networking Controller on a K8N mobo.

The RC1 set up with no problems.
I didn't have to configure anything.
Network shows a Residential Gateway, device is the Netgear router with a
192.168.1.1 address.
Using IPv4.

When I do a clean install to RC2, nothing gets configured.
The only thing I can see is the NIC in the Device Mgr.
Connection setup wants to give me PPoE or dialup.
Checking ipconfig gives a weird ip address.

Why did they take a beautiful networking setup and screw it up?

I can format and reinstall RC1 and, bingo, I'm right back on line.
All my drivers have been updated.
Any ideas?

You did the same thing that I had to do. With reading about all this trouble,
where are all the neat HELP that the MVP usually give us. A8V Delux.
