RC1 upgrade FAILS

I start the upgrade from b2 to RC1 (5600) and all goes well until the
Completing upgrade stage. When it gets there it takes FOREVER! going . then
... then ..., finnally it finishes and it restarts and then a couple seconds
after the loading windows screen comes up, the moving bar near the bottom
freeses and the Blue Screen of Death flashes on for a second then the
computer restarts. did this for hours with no result. finnally restored b2.
doe3s anyone know why this happens?
