# First boot from your install DVD

# Then continue with the installation.

# After the first reboot if you get an error stating file missing or
corrupted "SYM_HI.SYS".

# Reboot your system with the install DVD.

# Select Repair This Installation and click next.

# Now choose "Command Prompt" from the given option.

# In the command prompt it is displayed like this -

"X:/Source>"

# Now type your installation drive letter after the above prompt for me it
was D: drive so i type D: and press enter

# Now the prompt would be changed to "D:/>"

# Now type cd WINDOWS and enter

# Now type cd SYSTEM32 and enter

# Now type cd DRIVERS and enter

# Now type DEL SYM_HI.SYS and enter

# Close the command prompt and restart and carry on with your installation.
Enjoy Vista!
this problem appears only on certain pc's for some unknown reason but this
will let vista install .
