AFAIK 57xx build numbers are RTM build pool so it probably just confirms
that RC2 was not planned to be released but they have changed their mind
later for some reason. I can only guess that it was due to too much bugs yet
to be fixed. Did you see recent thread about RC2 EULA still referring to
RC1? Same thing here...

RTM refers to the branch from which the build is made. It is not referring
to any past intention to make this build Vista Gold. It means that 5744 is
in the branch that will eventually result in Vista Gold. Think of it as a
family name.

However, it is certainly possible for a particular build to be
re-released/repacked as RTM. Example: Windows 95's RTM was identical to RC6
(a straight repack was done).

There will be at least some changes. If nothing else, keep in mind that
ALL of the beta and "RC" versions of Vista are time-bombed and expire
next June, so the time-bomb will be removed. Also, we are not seeing
all of the "versions" (home basic, home premium, business, ultimate,
etc.) of Vista in the RCs.
