Recently had a major crash and had to re-install xp home.
All went ok but sound card not operating. The multimedia
audio cotroller not up and running as drivers for this
device are not installed.
How do I go about sorting this prob.

Install the drivers.

If you have the audio as part of the motherboard then visit the motherboard
OEM and download the latest audio drivers and install.
If you have a separate audio card visit the web site of the OEM and download
the latest drivers for your card,

You may want to try this one

http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

The other option would be to open the case and find it by inspection
