Re-Installing Printer Drivers

I own;
HP Media Center m7760n Desktop Vista Home Premium
HP Officejet 7310 All-in-One

Printer worked fine for 4 months with this pc then it just disappeared a
week ago, did a search in Vista Community and saw that its best to delete
software and re-installed software and drivers. Did that like 7 times and I
continue to get the same error.

"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error
while attempting to install it."

After hours on the phone with HP they finally tell me it is a Windows error
and to contact Microsoft. Possibly my windows installer may be currupt or
needs and update bios? Anyone else have this problem and what is the
solution?
Please advise and help. Thank you

Have you checked the Microsoft website since there are newer versions
of their software installer that you can install.
