| Hi, I have split my DISK1 into two partitions, one with vista (C:\) and one with XP(D:\). Since I'm running out of disk space on D, I would like to re-size the partitions. I'm looking at the disk with Partition Magic, but none of the partitions are visible, and the disk is set to BAD? Any hints or any other tools, that might help me out, is appreciated! | Have you tried Vista's 'shrink and expand partitions' in Disk Management? "Kjell R. Christensen" wrote: Quote:

claimed that something was wrong with the second partition (which is fixed) and then it just says BAD. Paragon Partition Manager seems to work though and Colin Barnhorst reports that the builtin resize-function in Vista works too, some have recomended Ranish (which is free), just choose one. -- Erik Wikström | Guest

| Kjell Right-click Computer, Manage, Disk Management then right-click a partition for the available options. "Kjell R. Christensen" wrote: Quote:

| Thanks, I just couldn't find it... But shrinking hangs in for "ever", first doing a lot of disk access and later consuming 50% of the CPU - a state it hangs in for ever until I kill it... I'm running the August edition! Any help in upgrading to the latest and greatest? | Try closing everything else down before running the 'shrink' - just like the defrag in Win98, which was a real pain. "Kjell R. Christensen" wrote: Quote:

| Partition Magic is not compatible with Vista. However, if you have PM on a Retail (bootable) CD-ROM or have created the "Rescue Disks" then you can boot your computer directly to Partition Magic with no Windows O/S running. Much faster! | Ok, I have upgraded to Vista RC1 and I now manage to shrink one disk, but it seems like you need a lot of freespace on the disk you want to expand? Rgs, /Kjell "BurrWalnut" <BurrWalnut@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:BC88424F-B2B9-4398-AE6C-7C227B5390C7@microsoft.com... Quote:
