Reading disc problem

When I try to copy a CD onto my hard drive, using EAC or Nero, my CD-Rom is
not being recognised and I am unable to do it. Playing CD's is no problem
but it is not reading them. Can anyone help please? Thank you.

To rip onto a PC, personally I use AudioGrabber, freeware.Try it - does that
work ?
