Rear speakers don't work

Hello! I have a Dell Dimension 8300 with integrated 5.1
channel sound support. The back of the computer has three
audio jacks (besides line in and the mic): Line out,
Surround, and Center.

I have a 4.1 speaker set right now, but I have not heard
the rear speakers (the ones plugged into the surround
jack) ever make any sound, except when I run Dell
Diagnostics. The center jack doesn't seem to have any
output either (this also worked fine in diagnostics). The
only one that I can get sound from is the line out.

I have SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio made by Analog
Devices with the 5.12.1.3650 drivers. I visited the
Analog Devices site but couldn't find any help.
