Recent updates break NVidia onboard NIC network connection

Posted: 03-30-2007, 11:04 PM
After installing updates KB931174 KB905866 and KB931621 and restarting my PC,
my network connection stopped working. Vista (Enterprise) reported that the
problem was caused by a hardware fault. I uninstalled all 3 updates one at a
time in the order listed previously and rebooted after each was uninstalled,
but the network connection issue was only fixed after a 4th reboot. The NIC
is on board my ASUS A8N-SLI and I am currently using N-Vidia's latest Vista
32 bit drivers (version 15.00). A "Problems and solutions" message has
appeared following removal of these update that shows problems reported with -

MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device
Ralink Technology Corporation (for the NIC)
Realtek HD Audio Sound Effect Manager

as well as a couple of software related problems.

Anyone else experienced problems with N-Vidia chipsets?

Been running fine for a couple of months, and still OK now I have
uninstalled these updates.
