Recognition Problem.

Posted: 09-01-2003, 06:04 AM
I upgraded to Windows XP from Windows 98 and have been
having problems with my CD Writer. Going into Device
Status shows that it is working properly, no updates are
available and it still does not play any CD's. Nor will
it burn any. It shows everything is OK except that
Properties also shows that the location is 0 (0). This
is the same location as my second hard drive. My other
CD player and Hard Drive show location 1 (1). I don't
know if that is important or not. I have uninstalled and
reinstalled but the same problem exists. When I try
copying the message saying to put a CD in the drive keeps
coming up. It is like it is not being recognized. What
gives? My kids are ready to kill me because they can't
burn any CD's.

Are you using Roxio? Did you upgrade to the latest Roxio? Coming from 98 you
may have older CD burner software thatyou need to upgrade to an XP
compatible version.
