Invest in Goldwave (http://www.goldwave.com) to record them in wav format,
get rid of the tape hiss and normalise the sound.

Invest in Nero (http://www.ahead.de/en/index.html#download) to burn the
CD's. I would advise against using the XP CD burning service, its not that
good. If you buy Nero, you'll need to do the following :
right click My Computer > Manage > Services and Applications > Services >
disable IMAPI CD Burning COM Service.

Cheers,
Jerry

Nero 6 Ultra Edition will do that nicely. http://www.nero.com/
Another alternative is the Analog recorder in the Digital Media Edition Plus
Pack from Microsoft.

This appears to be a common problem. Several ways to
accomplish this. First, your line into the computer must
lead into a line out from the stereo. Second, you could
record directly into a microphone. In both cases you
might use "sound recorder" to do this. You may also
purchase a player with the serial or universal leads. You
can also purchase an inexpensive studio system.>-----
