recording midi on the gameport

Posted: 09-11-2003, 09:45 PM
I'm trying to connect a korg sp200 keyboard to a packard
bell imedia pc via the game port. I enabled the midi in
the bios on startup, also setting the irq for the midi to
05. After doing this I could select the device mpu-401 in
the audio tab midi music playback box, before enabling the
midi bios I only had the microsoft gs wavetable sw synth
in the list box.
I connected a 15 pin cable, with cables midi out socket
going to the keyboard's midi in, likewise with the cable
out to the kayboard's in.
I set the irq for the mpu-401 to 05.
I had downloaded the Tracktion demo mixer and when I
opened this I could now enable the mpu-401 midi input and
move this to a track (I like the bendy arrows) and try
recording. The audio through a microphone to the pc does
record, but nothing is recorded when I play the sp200
keyboard, Tracktion is recording , but there appears to be
no midi there. The keyoard is new, so is the cable. Am I
missing a driver, is there something else I need to set,
do I need to buy a soundcard,...
Thanks in advance for the help. Joe
