recycle bin

Posted: 02-17-2005, 02:41 PM
Hello,

On my desktop is the symbol of the recycle bin. But if I delete any file
inside the explorer, the recycle bin is still empty. How can I enable, that
deleted files are put in the recycle bin ?
Did anyone know about this ?

C.Frank,

When you deleted files were you asked to move them to Rececly Bin first?
Also, just for testing purposes, try to drag some files and drop them on the Recycle Bin icon.

I work now with XPe SP2. If I drag a file over the recycle bin and drop it.
Windows ask me, if I want really delete it. But if I said Yes, the file is
deleted and the recycle bin is empty.

C.Frank,

I don't have a clue why you see the issue.

Just in case, verify that Recycle Bin --> Properties --> Global tab --> "Do not move files to the Recycle Bin...." checkbox is
cleared.

The settings is actually saved in one of the bits of [HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\-Explorer],"ShellState" value.

You can also change this behavior through a call to SHGetSetSettings API.

Hello,

I saw this behavior, when working with removable media, CF not running as
fixed disk.
Recycle bin is not working on removable storage, nor Installer Service is
working.

This is true.
Items deleted from removable media are not stored in the Recycle Bin and cannot be restored there.

Recycle Bin
Posted: 07-24-2007, 01:22 AM
In recent weeks every time I delete a file I see it transfer to my Recycle
Bin. Within about 15 minutes the item disappears, in other words the Recycle
Bin is self clearing.
I cannot find any setting which will have this effect.

Any suggestions on how I can stop my Recycle Bin from cleaning itself
