Recycling won't complete or cancel operation

Posted: 01-03-2009, 04:48 PM

I've got Vista Ultimate x64 and recently had some video driver issues
After I fixed it my computer is acting strangely. It no longer finishe
sending files to the recycling bin after I have selected them fo
deleting. If I try and cancel the operation it says "canceling" an
won't go any further. Everything seems to function fine except for this
I logged out while this was happening and all of the files I selected t
be deleted are now in the recycling bin even though the operation seeme
to stall at 0 files

Any thoughts

Hello SnLFuller

You might see if resetting the Recycle Bin may help. This tutorial wil
help show you how to

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/13...ile-folder.htm

Afterwards, run a "sfc /scannow" (no quotes) scan to see if it can fin
and fix any bad system files that may be causing this as well. Thi
tutorial will help show you how to if needed

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/66...fc-command.htm

Hope this helps

SnLFuller

The only way I know how to fix this, other than a clean reinstall o
Vista, is to try a '*Repair (upgrade) install*
(http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88...all-vista.html)

Hope this helps

You can try a '*System Restore*
(http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76...store-how.html) usin
a restore point dated before these problems to see if it may fix it

I would not think that would work very well. There's just to many file
corrupted

You might give a repair (upgrade) install a try if you do not want t
do a clean reinstall. :

Would that require me reinstalling all of my programs after the repair

You should not need to, but there is always that chance if somethin
goes wrong during installation.

I would recommend to backup anything you do not want to lose to b
safe
