"Regulare CD-R's"

Hello
I'm a "newbie" to the pc AND to pc music .... so, hope someone can help
I'm going to get some discs and I was wondering .... can the Standard CD-R
discs work just as well as the "Music CD-R's". and vice-versa??
It would help greatly if someone can get back to me soon as possible ...
it's not like I have my car keys in my hands ... lol ...
