Remote Desktop Connection

Posted: 06-12-2006, 10:39 AM
I cannot connect to server. I get this message:

"This computer can't connect to the remote computer. Try connection again.
If the problem continues, contact the owner of the remote computer or your
network administrator."

Well, the problem cannot be with the remote computer because others from the
same nerwork can connect to it, and I could too when I had windows xp on my
notebook.
Please help me.
Thanks.

I cannot connect to the remote computer. I get always this message:

"This computer can't connect to remote computer. Try connection again. If
the problem continues, contact the owner of the remote computer or your
network administrator."

Well the problem cannot be neither with the remote computer nor with the
network because others from the same network can connect to it.
Please help me.
Thanks.

Can you ping that computer? (type "cmd" into the seach box from the windows
menu then "ping x.x.x.x" where x.x.x.x is the IP address of the remote
machine.) If that works, try ping y where y is the machine name of the
computer.

I am trying to connect a Wondows XP to my Windows Vista machine using
RDC.

I have set up the RDC user on the Vista machine.

I get an error message the logon method is not correct. The exact
error message:

"You cannot log on because the logon method you are using is not
allowed on this computer"

How do I connect to a Vista machine fronm an XP machine?

thanks

Hello,

Please make sure that in Advanced System Properties under the Remote tab you
have set the Remote Desktop selection to "Allow connections from computers
running ANY VERSION of remote desktop"

Are you using the Pre-RC1 build? It looks like this build has problems
connecting to Windows XP machines via remote desktop.

Does this include connecting from an xp machine to my vista pre-rc1?

I get an error message saying something like service not available or
something like that.

duh,

Never mind, I didn't realize that trend micro had a firewall component. I
disabled it and now works like a charm.
