Remote Desktop Connection and Orange Logon Screen

Posted: 11-27-2008, 04:27 AM
I use remote desktop connection on my home network between two of my Vista
machines. The client is Vista Home Premium (I'll call this machine Laptop)
and the server is Vista Ultimate (I'll call this machine Desktop). After I
disconnect the remote desktop connection from the Desktop, the logon screen
on the Desktop machine has an Orange background instead of the normal Blue
background.

This wouldn't bother me, except that while in this mode the display doesn't
power down after 20 minutes even though I have my power plan set to "Turn off
Display" after 20 minutes.

If I do anything on the Desktop machine such as wiggle my mouse, the Blue
background returns and the display powers off normally.

Any hints on what I might try to solve this?

You might verify your running the latest drivers for your video
hardware.

That did it. The problem is now solved.

I have an ASUS EN8600GT video card. I was running the V178.15 version of
their driver. I tried both V175.19 from the Asus website and V178.24 from
the Nvidia website. Neither driver has this problem.

Thanks,
Cliff
