Remote Desktop-connection to remote computer is broken

Posted: 11-25-2003, 03:59 AM
Hi :

I have a home XP attempting to connect to a remote XP via
company's VPN. I a Linksys router between my cable modem
and my home computer. I can telnet to the remote computer
on port 3389 and I can also ping the machine and VNC to it.
But the then when I attempt to connect to it via RD(Remote
Desktop), the remote desktop screen comes up black for30
secs and then I got a message :

"The connection to the remote computer is broken. This may
have been caused a network error. Please try connecting to
the computer again."

Have anyone seen this?.

Thanks alot

Yep.. This error is common and is normally sporadic in nature. The
typical cause is a poor network connection. However, since you
reference a Linksys router - there have been known problems with
certain Linksys firmware releases and data/connection corruption. See
the Linksys forum at http://www.dslreports.com for more information
and links to known firmware versions that work.

Take a look at my response to BK, particularly if you have a Linksys
router.
