remote desktop control

Is there a way to control windows media player audio from
a remote location (laptop) via remote desktop or similar
program, but have the audio output play at the host
computer. I have a desktop with all my music files set
up near my stereo system and I would like to be able to
queue songs up to play on the system from the laptop. It
seems that the music just streams to the laptop speakers
when you open up the media player with the remote desktop
connection rather than playing on the host's speakers.
Any help would be appreciated.
