Default Remote desktop on domain controller?

Hello there,

I am administering a windows network. We have a machine
running Windows 2003 Server which is doing internal DHCP,
DNS, and is the domain controller. We have another machine
running windows XP pro (the development, or beta, server).

Both machines have the "Allow users to connect remotely"
box checked under the "Remote" tab. Remote connections to
the development machine work, but remote connections to
the server do not - we get the "Client could not connect"
error. I get no notification in the event viewer that
anything has happened.

I can't for the life of me figure out what's wrong. All of
the users of our network are in the "Remote Users" group.
I've tried to do everything according to the book and it's
just not working. Any help would be appreciated. Just post
a reply to the board or reply directly at
rwwalsh@NOSPAMcs.uchicago.edu -- obviously, remove the
NOSPAM.

Thanks in advance,
Rob Walsh

Default Re: Remote desktop on domain controller?

What happens if you run:

telnet serveraddress 3389

?

If you get a timeout error, either the service isn't running or it is
firewalled off. If you get a blank screen, then the server is running
fine...
