Boot to the recovery console on the WinXP CD and run FIXBOOT.

Or download VistaBoot Pro and do it from there. I find that easier

I used Vista Boot Pro to remove the Vista bootloader, but something went
wrong and I could not boot at all...kept getting the no hal.dll error
message. I couldn't use the recovery console because all my computer
manufacturer includes is a reinstall disk, not the windows disk...So I had to
start over. Then I installed the recovery console on the hard drive, but
still can't get to it when needed because it won't load. I get a blue
screen...and when I try to load SATA drivers to avoid the blue screen, I
can't get the drivers installed. I have no floppy, so tried a flash drive.
XP found the drivers on one of my flash drives (but not another) but popped
up an error message every time it tried to load them.

What could have gone wrong with the Vista Boot Pro program? I think that
the bootini file for XP was still intact and correctly worded, so it must
have had to do with the MBR. Should Vista Boot Pro remove the Vista MBR and
replace it with the correct XP one?
