| It seems you can't remove Norton Antivirus 2006 after you have installed Vista Beta 2. Does anyone know how to get around this problem? Norton wanted to charge me for support to do this, which is a TOTAL joke. They want me to pay them to remove their program. Boy, they lost a customer here. Any suggestions would help! | Guest

| I'd do a full format and a proper reinstall. Never feels like a true install to me if it hasn't been built from scratch ![]() "Alan Winn" <AlanWinn@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:9B66E095-8499-4991-82D5-810889D8C25C@microsoft.com... Quote:

| I agree. And you certainly don't want to pay for Norton's customer support - in my experience, they aren't very helpful, although they might give you enough information so you can figure out the rest on your own. "Steve Williamson" wrote: Quote:

| I had a similar issue with system works 2003. I tried to install the cleaner and the ghost fromt he main screen which never completed. Then I uninstalled whatever was installed and I tried to install only the ghost. I just didn't go tto far. After doing a registry search and deleting all the referenced to Norton stuff, I could install only the ghost. The problem I believe is that Vista is not exactly backward compatible at this time. I could however install Partition Magic, Ghost and some other stuff which seem to work fine, inspite of the warnings. Hope that helps somewhat. "Alan Winn" wrote: Quote:

causes so many problems. Norton stuff is OK when it works but when it goes wrong it is a total nightmare to fix. Symantec support might help, there are manual removal pages for most NIS versions and in some cases an uninstaller is provided but this is all XP related, it may however give you some idea how to remove it. You have to search for the instructions though which is a saga in itself sometimes. Best way to remove Norton is unfortunately a reformat. BTW the charged support involves lots of pointless but interesting "fixes" to string you along ending finally with Uninstall / Reinstall your Symantec Application - which is usually the problem in the first place 8-) Jonah | Guest
