Repair install of Vista

Posted: 09-17-2007, 10:50 PM
I can find no way to do the equivalent of an XP repair install of Vista.
This is when you boot from the XP cd, tell it to install, it finds an
existing copy of XP and offers to repair it. I use this when a motherboard
fails or a customer buys a new PC and I clone the drive and use this to
avoid having to re-install all of the applications.

Please advise.

I had a repair option on the DVD for Vista Ultimate when I booted. What
version are you using?

It has a repair option. You have to boot from DVD, same as boot from CD for
XP, LOL

Yes there is a repair option, but this isn't the same as a re-install which
is what is required when you change the motherboard--I tried it and it gave
up and said that it couldn't repair the system.
