Reset or Remove a User account password under a second partition/d

Dear XP Cracks,

I have a problem with not being able to enter a password (I do remember it).
When I upgraded the PC with a new harddisc, the shop people copied the
content of the previous boot disc onto the new disc. I subesequently
formatted the new disc and re-installed only the software still needed,
thinking that I could always recover the (-password protected) data under "My
Documents" at my former boot disc.

As it turned out, that is not possible. When I chose the respective former
boot drive, "Documents & Settings" etc. to get to my documents, it refuses to
give me access and does not give the possibility to enter a password either.

I have tried to make the former boot disc the current boot disc to remove
the password und and unprotect all folders, but I can no longer boot from
that disc.

I will be greatful for any tips that lead me to recovering my data.

thanks, cheers

Have you tried booting the problem disk off the Windows CD and repairing the
installation? Then boot in safe mode and try to open

If you hadn't encrypted the data files (which could not have been
done with WinXP Home), you may be facing nothing more than a simple
permissions issue. Have you tried taking ownership of the old folders?
