Restore Points don't work

Posted: 08-01-2003, 05:50 AM
I needed to restore my PC to an previous point and used
System Restore. It went through the process, rebooted,
asked me to login as normal and as the desktop was
setting up a info window came up which said "Restore
Incomplete. Your system cannot be restored ........etc".
I was back to my current system.
I tried several other restore points all with the same
result. Then I created a restore point and restored from
it OK. Why are the auto restore points not working? I'm
running XP Pro on a P4 system only 6 months old,
everything has worked great untill I found this.

John;
There may be corrupted data in system Restore.
Turn off/on System Restore to delete corrupted files:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
Click System Restore Settings on left side.
Check "Turn off System Restore", click OK, follow prompts and reboot.
This deletes all Restore Points including corruption.
Then go back and turn on system Restore and create a Restore Point.

Want a great fix to that crapy Restore Points Windows
uses? You will never have to worry about restoring to a
previous point again. This is a great program because
with you install new programs, sometimes the installation
botches and you need to restore. Get Norton System Works
by Symantec and install the included Go-Back by Roxio and
your problems have all ended, as far as going back when
your system will not finish a boot, no problem as this is
te first thing that comes up on the screen and all you
have to do is press the spacebar and presto, choose the
restore point time and it reverts your hard drives back to
that time. Been a real lifesaver for me. Great Program
that is given as part of "Norton System Works". Since
this program comes with Norton Anti-Virus, uninstall any
other anti-virus program first. Use Norton Programs and
you will avoid costly computer shop repairs, believe me.
Computer shops tell you not to install it, and often take
them off a computer, but behind closed doors, they are
using it to fix your computer!

Hope this has been informative for you.

You fix one problem and create many, many more with that idea.
