Restore Points Fail

Posted: 01-19-2009, 05:22 PM
I've run XP Pro on two machines since it was released. In all of those
years, I have NEVER been able to get a Restore Point to roll me back to a
previous point in time.

I start the process, it reboots and ALWAYS then informs me that the restore
point process was unsuccessful.

What is wrong? Thanks....RDK

ps...both machines are full patched and SP3....

If you've never done it before, you need to stop System Restore on the
disks it's set to monitor, restart Windows, and set System Restore up
again.

Have you tried running system restore from safe mode? Have you tried
deleting all restore points (turn the feature off and then back on) and
starting over with new ones?

current "Context Menu" problem.....Rob

The date and time was Monday, January 19, 2009 9:22:09 AM, and on a
whim, RDK pounded out on the keyboard:

Hi RDK,

Unfortunately whenever I try SR on client machines or my own, it's
failed when it was needed most. It's almost useless IMO. A good backup
schedule and using ERUNT is the best insurance.
