Risk II Shuts Down - CDROM Error #7, Disk Has Bad Block

Posted: 08-27-2003, 02:33 AM
Hi All, Most the time I can play my game ok in XP Pro.
Sometimes it quits. I can look up this error after the
game disappears without warning. It's the same error each
time. The game plays without error in W98se consistently.
I can't use w98 settings in XP Pro and get it to play. It
won't. I have even replaced the cdrom drive but to no
avail. I have tried playing the game from a copy on the
hard drive but copy protection won't let me. OK. Should I
try to find a new disk or is everyone else having this
problem? I'll build a w98se machine just for this game if
I have to.

A simpler solution you don't mention trying is making sure the CD itself is
clean. small amounts of dirt or fingerprints can affect reading the disk.
