| 1. I have a local domain running on a pair of Enterprise 2003 Servers. 2.. I use Roaming Profiles normally fairly successfully with the XP SP2 boxes in the network. 3. I have yet to get them to work with any release of Windows Vista. Vista always tells me that it can't load the profile and is going to use the local ones. Suggestions please on what to look for. The event log on the Vista box is not particularly interesting as near as I can tell. Yet another reason why Vista isn't ready for prime time. NOTE TO MS LURKERS: If the problem is my fault, in the sense that I need to do something to my domain then it would have been really slick if the message that was display said something like "You can't use your roaming profile, giving you a local one. Have your IT jocks read KB article #123457890." Regards, Al Christoph | Guest

| Try this: The command to disable the autotuninglevel is: - Click start, All Programs - Accessories - Right-click Command Prompt - Click Run As Administrator - Type the following: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled - Press enter - Restart your computer (not really necessary) In fact for my Profile problem was that Windows was in slow bandwidth and of course as the old Windows, by default it not download the profile but just create a temp folder. | Guest

| We have one machine on our Windows 2000 network that has Vista. The others are all XP.. The Vista machine is not loading the roaming profile and so our desktop changes are not saved. This seems to be a common problem (Outside of our company - we only have the one machine as I said) . And I don't know how to attack the solutions. I see stuff about redirecting folders - I don't know what that is... I'm really a developer but I am trying to assist the System Admin so that this one PC will work for our new VP. So that makes me VHM (Very Highly Motivated) but I need the answer to be simple enough so even I can explain it. Thanks. -- Myra | Guest

| Hi Ken, I thought I would reply to this post as the poster hasn't, and I too have problems.I have recently migrated my machine from XP to Vista (clean install). On all of my (SBS 2003 Standard) clients, users use a roaming profile configured as \\domain.local\profiles\%username% which used to work no problem. However, since migrating myself to Vista my profile is not loaded correctly due to a slow link being detected which is definitely not the case. I have set the profiles share with Full Control for Authorised Users, tried deleting my profile etc but to no avail. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. | I have a question on vista roaming profiles stored in file server hom directories, My customer upgrading his desktops to vista from window 2000 pro. He is currently using roaming profiles in win2kpro and he d not have any issues as such. But when he did some basic analysis o vista, the network throughput between file server and clients at logo time is really huge in vista compared to win2kpro.It is almost 7 time that of win2kpro. Is there any known issue on vista roaming profile? I so, how it is in vista sp1 -- n.sureshkumaa Posted via http://www.vistaheads.co | Guest
