run two sound cards?

Posted: 04-03-2004, 03:15 AM
Hi all,
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to run two sound cards on winxp. I
have a P4P800 DX
motherboard and it comes with a built in sound. I need a couple of extra
inputs, and was wondering if I could use the built in line in input. I have
a sound blaster live sound card installed and all its inputs are in use
right now.
I have installed the drivers for the built in sound but even with it set as
the default sound device I don't get any sound. In the bios the only options
for the built in sound is Auto and Disabled. In the auto mode I don't think
that it works with the SB Live installed.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Bill T

Hi

You can use an external multi audio connectors (with switches)
BTW, if your blaster live sound card is not 5.1 model, why not use the on-board sound chips; it should be 5.1 channel with SPDIF

Thanks for the reply, Peter. You are right, the onboard sound is 5.1 but so
is my
SB Live. The reason I don't use the on board sound is because it only comes
with
3 plugs and the sb has more. I will also have to purchase a game port
module. The sb live card comes with one built on the card. I will have to
look into that.
Thanks..
