running an MS-DOS program from WIN XP

I have a piece of unfortunately essential software that, under '98, required me to 'restart in MS-DOS mode' and wouldn't operate as a DOS window in the windows environment. Is there any comparable way to do that with Windows XP??

Windows XP doesnt include any version of DOS.
