running slow / Vista Ultimate

My machine is running slow and it's not supposed to. I was wondering what
services or processes I could safety stop to get more speed.

Thanks,

Why not instead find out why it's running so slowly? Check with Task
Manager to see if anything's running and chowing down CPU cycles. What
started the slowness and what happens if you un-do that?

I installed QuickTime and iTunes (Business x64 w/ 4 x 500GB and 6GB RAM,
Quad Xeon)

Afterward, I could hear the disk drives churning and a lot of activity.
Looking for something in Task Manager for what or who was indexing,
searching, it wasn't using more than 1-3% cpu and no clue which. Seems like
it would be more obvious.

I hope I don't find that QT and iTunes have "taken over" all media files.

Any idea?

What does Task Manager say? When you show all processes, what's taking up
CPU cycles?
