sasser symptoms but something else?

Posted: 05-13-2004, 10:46 PM
One of our company's staff members took a laptop on the road with him
the week of May 3-7, during the trip he reported symptoms that sounded
like sasser.

I've gotten the unit back here in the office and have followed all
windows updates and norton updates, and the newest (thru F strain) of
Sasser removal tool. However:
1. Removal tool says "no infection detected"
2. Norton scans clean after update
3. System still shutting down w/ the lssas.exe error after connecting
to the internet.

I thought maybe somehow it was re-infected with the blaster worm (even
though we had the update to protect from it) but the removal tool for
blaster found nothing as well.

Any ideas out there on this one?
