Satellite Broadband speed

Posted: 08-22-2003, 05:33 PM
Hello people.

I have just installed a one-way satellite broadband connection. The
connection is send via modem and receive via satellite using a proxy server
address given by my satellite provider. The problem is the download speeds
are very sloooow. I am getting download speeds of approx. 115-120 Kbps. My
satellite broadband supplier doesn't seem able to reply to my requests for
help in this matter. Can anyone help in getting faster d/l speeds. For
instance are there any tweaks that need to be done to achieve this?

Another problem is receiving emails via Outlook Express via the satellite
connection. They suggest that I enter a proxy address in the
properties/servers/incoming mail (pop 3) box. I have done this but it does
not work.

If anyone has had this problem and can help I would be obliged.

Regards

Fred Friend
